City on a Hill
My friend, I see you walk in shadows,
Searching for the light you used to see.
Come let me help you find our way.
Sometimes the path can be hard to follow,
Gut it’s wide enough for me to walk beside you,
And we can help each other not to stray.
So come and stand by me,
Together we can be a city on a hill.
We’ll let our light shine forth,
We know our holy worth, and someday everyone will.
Let’s stand together, take my hand.
You are, I am, we are the light of the world.
There are so many paths we can follow,
Temptations pull us oh so many ways,
A million wrong but only one right.
But if you and I walk together,
And help mark the path for everyone,
We can be a beacon in the night.
Some days I won’t have much strength to offer,
Sometimes I’m sure I’ll never find the path.
But come lean on me just the same.
Our strength alone doesn’t have to carry us,
We know that Jesus walks beside us,
Where two or more are gathered in his name.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” – Matthew 5:14
- “City on a Hill” is part of the “Step Into the Light” mime drama. It’s a hymn to remind us who we are in Christ and how together we are the light of the world.
